WHAT: PLAN VAN is a series of workshops for anyone wanting to develop a community arts event IN their local community WITH the local community
Producing Great Events
A workshop outlining the go to whoa of a great event, including the five steps of project planning and management:
- Concept Development
- Mapping the concept
- Planning & Timeline
- Project implementation
- Evaluation and mopping up
People – Making Connections
A workshop for practioers and community groups and how they can engage with a project and get it off the ground. It covers:
- building local cultural networks between people
- developing community partnerships between organizations
- managing bureaucratic hurdles
- encouraging volunteers
This workshop should leave you with a clearer picture of how and why you gather a group together to work on a project; of what groups and individuals will work to deliver projects in partnership, who is in the partnership (local business, organizations, volunteers and government) including who will manage the projects, who will work on them, and where the money will come from.
Communication and promotion (how to tell the world about your big idea!)
Every project needs good communication, be it to grant givers, sponsors, the media, the potential audience, or the participants. Whether you are getting a permit for an event or applying for funding, articulating your ideas and the planned outcomes is essential.
This workshop will look at developing a marketing plan, how you communicate your ideas and to whom, considering what the project will give back and for what you are asking. It will also look at publicity on a shoestring.
WHO: Two experienced facilitators, Bec Cole and Virginia Maywald, will present a range of workshops covering the development of an idea to the final presentation and promotion of a project.
